Did I hear a Hell Yeah? Well, so do I.
So much, in fact, that I’ve made a crap-ton of it! I am obsessed with any kind of talisman-type object so I love making jewelry around them. What makes something lucky? Anything that you deem is so. If it speaks to you and holds meaning, chances are it will bring on good feelings and therefore motivate you to manifest some serious Badassery. It’s as simple as that.
My Lucky Charm necklaces and bracelets are bits and baubles that I’ve picked up in various hunting and gathering over the years—genuine crystal, stones, vintage pieces off of old jewelry and items that scream ‘BUY ME’ at merchant shows. Crystals and stones have been said to have certain properties, but the other curious may very well mean something different to you than they do to me.
My Patron Saints of Badassery are my nod to my take on religion and my love of skulls. Putting a skull in place of a saint’s face is not to mock the conventions but to share my message that each of us put our own face on spirituality…and that’s BADASS. I also love skulls for the fact that they are the constant reminder of two things: underneath it all, we are all the same; and each day is one closer to death, so we may as well live our lives to the fullest!
As with the traditionals, each Badass saint in my various necklaces helps you out in a different way. The saints are on chains, leather cord, and also made into a long double necklace layered with crystals and charms that aid the theme…for those of you who love all of these items and want to wear them all together, whilst taking all the help you can get. 😉
After becoming enthralled with the Game of Thrones books and show, I was obsessed with Sansa’s necklace that she wears toward the end of the series–so I decided to try my hand at making one. My version of the Queen of the North necklace is the same lariat style with different kick-ass charms at one end.
So where can you see and/or get your hands on any of these jewels? You don’t even need to leave your house to attend the new online version of Minneapolis Craft Market, of which I’m a member!
